Patricia Collins Wrede (born March 27, 1953) is an American fantasy writer from Chicago, Illinois.
The eldest of five children, she graduated from Carleton College in 1974 with a BA in Biology, married James Wrede in 1976 (they divorced in 1991), and obtained an MBA from University of Minnesota in 1977. She finished her first book in 1978, working as an accountant and financial analyst in the meantime. She was a founding member of The Scribblies, along with Pamela Dean, Emma Bull, Will Shetterly, Steven Brust and Nate Bucklin, in January 1980, \"to which she belonged for five extremely productive years.\" She sold her first book to Ace in April 1980 and it was published in 1982. In the fall of 1980, she met Lillian Stewart Carl who introduced her to Lois McMaster Bujold. In 1985, shortly before her fifth book was published, she became a full-time writer. She is a member of the Liavek shared-world anthology.

Book1：Dealing with Dragons
In which Princess Cimorene of the kingdom of Linderwall decides that being a princess is too boring and confining, leaves home to work for the dragon Kazul, and discovers and subsequently dissolves a plot by the wizards to take control of the King of the Dragons.
Book2：Searching for Dragons
In which Cimorene meets the King of the Enchanted Forest, Mendanbar. With their new friends, they collaborate to rescue Kazul—now the King of the Dragons—from the wizards who have captured her in the Enchanted Forest.
Book3：Calling on Dragons
In which Morwen discovers that the wizards have stolen Mendanbar\'s sword, which keeps them from stealing the Enchanted Forest\'s magic, and works with Cimorene to retrieve it.
Book4：Talking to Dragons
In which Daystar, Cimorene and Mendanbar\'s son, is sent off into the forest with his father\'s sword and no knowledge of his heritage. Written and published first, and then revised later to better fit with the prequel books.
