expensive & dear 词汇辨析

两者都可表示“昂贵的”，但含以上存在细微的差别，你知道如何根据语境使用么？一起往下看吧！

1.expensive 可以指昂贵的；花钱多的；价格高的（costing a lot of money） ，通常指物美价高，超出消费者的购买力；

That’s a beautiful skirt, but it’s too expensive for me.

那是件漂亮的裙子，但对我来说太贵了。

Rolls Royces are very expensive.

劳斯莱斯汽车价格昂贵。

She has expensive tastes (= she likes things that cost a lot of money).

她喜欢昂贵的东西。

2.Dear也可以表示价格昂贵，高价（costing too much），指价格高出正常或合理的价格，主要指普通日用品因暂时的供应不足而造成的价格上涨。

The food was good but very dear.

这儿的饭菜不错，就是太贵。

另外，dear还有其他的含义：

 1.loved or liked very much 亲爱的，心爱的；可爱的

She was a very dear friend.

她是一位非常亲密的朋友。

He was very dear to me.

他是我非常亲近的人。

2.used at the beginning of a letter to greet the person you are writing to （用于信的开头作问候语）亲爱的，尊敬的

Dear Kerry/Mum and Dad/Ms Smith/Sir

3. used in expressions of anger, disappointment, sadness, or surprise 天哪（表示恼怒、失望、伤心、吃惊等）

Oh dear! I've lost my keys again.

Dear me, it's already 4.30 and I said I'd be home by 5.00!
